For centuries Jews around the world have celebrated Passover to commemorate their deliverance from slavery in Egypt. But when Jesus shared His last Passover with His disciples, He expanded their understanding of Passover-that it was not simply looking back to their deliverance from the slavery of Egypt, but looking forward to a greater deliverance for all people from the slavery of sin! Join Pastor Gary for today’s teaching as he compares the Old Testament regulations for Passover to the New Testament fulfillment in Christ!
00:00 - Welcome
00:42 - Introduction
03:31 - The Final Week of Jesus’ Life
03:48 - Ch.19- Jesus comes into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday)
04:45 - Ch.20-21 - Jesus is teaching and ministering to people in the Temple Court area
04:55 Ch.22- Jesus shares the last Passover meal with His disciples
17:24 - Passover commemorates the deliverance of the Jews from the slavery of Egypt
23:35 - Paul: “…Chris, our PASSOVER LAMB, has been sacrificed.” (1 Cor. 5:7, ESV)
23:49 - John the Baptist: “Behold, the LAMB OF GOD, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29, NKJV)
24:02 - How is Jesus our Passover Lamb? What does that mean for each of us?
24:23 - 1) The lamb was selected/inspected on the 10th of Nisan (Exodus 12:3). Jesus was selected/inspected on the 10th Nisan (Palm Sunday) when He rode into Jerusalem on a donkey (Luke 19:28-48)
25:16 - 2) The sacrificial lamb was to be a “yea old male” (Exodus 12:5). Jesus died in the prime of His life
25:26 - 3) The lamb was to be “without defect” (Exodus 12:5) Jesus was a sinless sacrifice - “ a lamb without blemish or defect” (1 Peter 1:19)
25:55 - 4) The lamb was to eb sacrificed on the 14th Nisan at “twilight” [3pm-6pm] (Exodus 12:6). Jesus would have been crucified on the 14th Nisan and He died “at the ninth hour” [3pm Roman time] (Matt. 27:45)
26:51 - 5) The bread (matzah) of Passover was without yeast (Exodus 12:8). Jesus was the “bread of life” without sin (John 6:48; Heb. 4:15)
27:10 - 6) The lamb was to be sacrificed without breaking a bone (Exodus 12:46). Jesus was crucified and “not a bone was broken” (John 19:36, Psalm 34:20)
28:16 - 7) The blood of the lamb was God’s gracious provision to save the Jews in Egypt. The blood of Jesus was God’s gracious provision to save both Jews and Gentiles in the world!
28:27 - Passover PAST (through Moses) commemorates the deliverance of the Jews from the slavery of Egypt.
28:36 Passover PRESENT(through Jesus) commemorates the deliverance of ALL WHO BELIEVE from the slavery of sin.

I love this teaching but have a question. If Jesus was eating the passover meal with the disciples the lamb would have already been sacrificed so how was Jesus sacrificed at the same time as the spotless lambs?
9:00 lords supper? Who calls it the Lord's supper? Last supper, yes but not Lords supper.
BTW, the Eucharist is Greek for thanksgiving, but when you use sacramental language it is not symbolic
For Catholics, Orthodox and copts it IS the body , blood, soul and divinity under the species, the accident of bread and wine.
This has been the church's teachings from the start 1 corth 10-
It's only when the religious revolutionaries of the 1500 taught their 'lords supper' that is merely symbolic.
If you belong to a non denom, prot church you are only eating a cookie, nothing more.
Hello see 1 Cor 11:20 re Lord's supper trans from the Gree God bless your study!
Amen
